3D viewmaster goes anatomical

So I subscribe to a bunch of listserves relating to anatomical things. Some is art, some is anatomy, somewhere in between is me and my opinion of what's interesting, and that's probably what I'll wind up posting here. It's a mish-mash of things dredged off of the Association of Medical Illustrators listserves, various associations of anatomists listserves and anything else I think has some relevance to anatomy and is in good taste.

When I started working in anatomy, I found a dusty old 3D viewmaster. I sort of laughed, but I had to admit the photos of stuff seen through it were pretty remarkable and pretty valuable too. The dissections were great. Here's an article in the New York Times on the fellow who did the work

It seems still relevant as Stanford University has also gone through pains to make it available online - for a price, at least. Check out the kidney dissection in this slide show. [I think he destroyed the blood vessels and kept the latex, but that's my opinion!].
